Congratulations to Sandra Davies who was recognised in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours List with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), presented last week by the Victorian Governor, Linda Dessau, at Government House.
Sandra was awarded this honour for “services to the performing arts, and to music education”. This is in recognition of her 46 year service to CLOC Musical Theatre and the wider Melbourne musical theatre community, as well as her work in music education and mentoring at both primary and secondary level.
Sandra’s roles at CLOC Musical Theatre over 40 years have included a member of the CLOC Committee including the roles of President, Vice President, Company Administrator and Life Member recipient in 1993, as well as involvement in nearly 80 CLOC productions in a variety of roles, most notably 73 productions as Stage Manager.
As well as her love of CLOC, Sandra has devoted her life to music, teaching and mentoring – professionally as a music teacher for over 45 years, and to other theatre companies across the country who have contacted Sandra to share her vast knowledge and devotion to musical theatre.
