Circus Nexus Live! will be presented from September 9 -11 at the Circus Nexus headquarters in Preston.
The past two years have seen the circus industry hit hard with little access to training facilities, cancelled performances, and loss of income for artists and companies.
Circus Nexus has fought hard to rebuild and presents its first live show since 2019, Circus Nexus Live!
Prior to the rebrand in 2020, Circus Nexus was known as Westside Circus, founded by Debbie Mariarz in 1996.
For 25 years, the organisation has provided Victorians with opportunities to engage in the circus arts through their public and community outreach programs and is now expanding to support emerging artists and industry professionals in the creation and rehearsal of their work.
Circus Nexus CEO Jeremy Davies understands the importance of providing artists with an affordable and safe space. “After the last two years, it’s hard enough coming back as a professional, let alone to try and start a career.”
In the lead up to Circus Nexus Live, a section of the Circus Nexus studio is being converted into a performance space, fitted with curtains and scaffolding for additional lights. The creation of a new theatre hub is an important next step in the Circus Nexus journey.
Circus Nexus Live will present new work performed by four emerging artists who have received funding from Circus Nexus to develop their act over a six-week incubator program.
