Showbiz people named in Australia Day Honours


Deborah Anne Conway was recognised in the Australia Daty Honours “for significant service to the performing arts, as a singer, songwriter and producer”. She receives the AM recognition.

Also given the AM honour was Paul Joseph Mercrurio, of Tyabb, for significant service to the performing arts, particularly to dance.

ABC evebning listeners will be familiar with William Patrick O’Shea, of Melbourne, cited for significant service to the legal profession, and to the community.

Maude Alice Davey, of Abbotsford, received an OAM honour for service to the perfoming arts, particularly as an artistic director.

Local newspaperman, Garry Robert Howe, was saluted for service to the community of the Cardinia Shire. He is Editor of the Star News Group.

Writer-actor-comedian Jane Turner, of Elwood, was credited for her service to the performing arts.

Los Angeles-based TV newsman Robert Penfold is being honoured with an AM post-nominal “for significant service to the broadcast media, and to journalism”.

Singer John Lo Piccolo, also known as John St Peters, of Hillside, has been recognised for service to the peforming arts.
